GMB Manual Audit
Client Overview
A luxury limo and executive transportation company in Toronto aiming to boost its local online visibility, Google Maps presence, and conversion rate from GMB listings.
Objective
To conduct a comprehensive Google My Business (GMB) audit for the client’s listing and highlight optimization gaps that hinder search visibility, trust-building, and local lead generation.
Audit Approach
The audit was performed using a manual review framework (without needing access to the GMB dashboard) to assess the profile’s completeness, consistency, engagement, and SEO optimization potential.
A total of 35+ GMB attributes were checked under five key categories:
- Listing Information & Verification
- Category Accuracy & Relevance
- Attributes, Services & Content
- Visual Media Optimization
- Engagement, Posts & Review Strategy
Key Findings & Observations
Strengths Identified
- Verified listing and all essential contact info (business name, address, phone number, website) matched the website.
- Over 80–90 high-quality media files uploaded, including geo-tagged, real, and professional photos.
Consistent review and engagement metrics:
- Total reviews: 82
- Negative reviews: 2–3 (all professionally responded)
- 100% response rate
- Last updated review: 1 month ago
Critical Gaps & Missed Opportunities
Category Optimization Issues
- Primary category was added, but important secondary and niche categories like “Airport Shuttle Service” and “Wedding Transportation” were missing.
- Recommendation: Add 3–5 well-targeted secondary categories to improve visibility across various search intents.
Incomplete Profile Sections
- Missing essential sections: Operating Hours, Payment Methods, Services Offered, Service Areas, and Products.
- Recommendation: Complete these fields to improve Local Pack ranking and user trust.
Poor Semantic SEO in Posts
- Although 100+ posts were made, semantic optimization (with LSI keywords and local relevance) was under 60%.
- Recommendation: Improve quality of posts using location-based keywords, seasonal themes, and relevant events.
Messaging Not Enabled
- Messaging feature was disabled, reducing chances of direct customer interaction.
- Recommendation: Enable messaging to increase lead conversion opportunities.
Q&A Section
- Some answers were incomplete or not helpful.
- Recommendation: Rewrite answers with informative and keyword-rich responses to help SEO and improve trust.
